As per the Election Commission of India, the overall voter turnout in Assam is 76.52 percent till 8 PM. In Assam, total 345 candidates have been sealed as the second phase of assembly elections concluded in Assam. Senior political leaders including BJP leader Parimal Suklabaidya from Dholai, Pijush Hazarika from Jagirod,Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha from north Karimganj , Deputy Speaker Aminul Haque Laskar from Sonai and former deputy speaker Dilip Kumar Paul from Silchar.
Both the BJP and Congress are optimistic about victory. A total of 365 candidates are contesting in the second phase out of which 26 are female candidates.
