Former Assam chief minister and senior Congress leader Dr Bhumidhar Barman passed away on Sunday evening at Guwahati.
He had been on ventilation at the ICU of Guwahati’s Dispur Hospital for the past many days.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal expressed condolences on the death of the veteran Congress leader.
CM Sonowal said on twitter , “Saddened to learn about the demise of former Chief Minister of Assam Dr. Bhumidhar Barman. My sincere condolences to his bereaved family members and well-wishers. Om shanti.”
Dr Barman had held chief ministers for a short period between April 22, 1996-May 14, 1996 after the death of then Assam chief minister Hiteshwar Saikia.
