A Women from Northeastern India who left IAS only focus her career on journalism

Mamang Dai an indigenous poet from Arunachal Pradesh and journalist was born on 23 February 1957 at Pasighat.

Her own family belongs to the Adi tribe one of the maximum populous organizations of indigenous peoples in Arunachal Pradesh. She finished her training at Pine Mount School, Shillong.

She was chosen for the IAS in 1979, yet she later left the post to seek after her career in journalism.

She is the first woman from Arunachal Pradesh to be selected for IAS. While working as a journalist.

She tried to write various problems of Arunachal Pradesh to The Telegraph, Hindustan Times.

In 2017 she got Sahitya Akademi Award for her novel The Black Hill.
