Boxer Lovlina Borgohain becomes the first female athlete from Assam to qualify for the Olympics.
She is the second boxer from Assam to represent the country after Shiva Thapa.
She will participate 69kg Welterweight category which held in Tokyo Japan this year July- August.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed it on Twitter.
Sarma tweet,”A matter of great joy and pride for us as @LovlinaBorgohai becomes the first woman pugilist from Assam to qualify for the #Olympics. My heartiest Congratulations to you Lovlina. You have our finest wishes for the big moment. May you continue to shine and succeed.”
In 2020, Lovlina received Arjuna Award.
