Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga informed on Twitter the Mizoram government will reward young Indian hockey star Lalremsiami with Rs 25 lakh.
CM Zoramthanga tweeted,”#Mizoram wishes @Lalremsiami30 and Team India all success at the 2020 Summer Olympics, Tokyo. The Mizoram government will reward young Indian hockey star Lalremsiami with Rs 25 lakh for making it to the Tokyo Olympics and becoming the first female Olympian from the state.”
The 21-year-old star Lalremsiami from Mizoram’s Kolasib town near the Assam border is among one of the eight 16-member Indian women’s hockey team Olympic squads.
The historic announcement coincided with the International Olympic Day.
The first installment of the reward amounting to Rs.10 lakh will be handed over to Lalremsiami’s mother Lalzarmawii by Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga during a function to be held at the Chief Minister conference hall in Aizawl.
The remaining Rs.15 lakh will be handed over personally to the player after the Olympic Games,
