The Assam government will encourage corporate groups to use the infrastructure of two paper mills of Assam Nagaon and Hailakandi to operate. “if not a paper mill, then some other industries”, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
CM Dr. Sarma also told PTI the state government has “no direct role” in reviving the Hindustan Paper Corporation Ltd plants, it has been providing support in the form of free electricity, health and education for children of employees.
The two paper mills of Assam Panchgram in Hailakandi district and Jagiroad paper mill in Nagaon district were closed in 2015 and 2017.
