Assam celebrates 21st National Fish Farmers Day at Jungal Balahu Fish Farm at Raha in Nagaon district on Saturday.
Environment & Forest, Excise and Fisheries Minister of Assam Parimal Suklabaidya attend this function.
Fisheries Minister Suklabaidya said on this programm , It was during the tenure of the NDA Governments headed by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee that the fisheries sector got top priority.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has acknowledged fish as an asset and that itself is a matter of great honour and pride for the fish farmers of the country.
With the creation of gene bank, fish production is expected to increase up to five lakh metric tonnes. The Government has allotted Rs.10 crore for the creation of gene banks.
