Today Tripura celebrates the 113th birth anniversary of the legendary king of Tripura HH Bir Bikram Kishore Debbarman Manikya Bahadur.
Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Debbarman Manikya Bahadur was the first to set up a Higher educational institution in Tripura.
He was the king before the merger of Tripura with India.

He was born on August 19th, 1908 into the Manikya dynasty which had ruled Tripura since 1280.
He became the 184th and penultimate Maharaja of the Kingdom of Tripura in 1923 and ruled until his death in May 1947.
