A historical step! Central Government signs Karbi peace accord

On Saturday the Central Government government signed a tripartite Karbi Peace Accord in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, former Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and the representatives of Karbi outfits in Delhi.

Former Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal Tweet,”Lasting peace in Assam has been made possible under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi ji and support of Hon’ble HM Shri @AmitShah ji. The signing of the Karbi Anglong Agreement is yet another addition to the process of growth initiated by this Govt”.

The home minister Amit Shah told reporters, Modi government is committed to resolving the decades-old crisis, ensuring the territorial integrity of Assam.

Shah also told, “the Karbi Anglong Agreement will be written in golden words in the history of Karbi region and Assam”.

The Karbi is one of the leading ingenious groups of Assam.
