Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa sarma meets with the AASU leader on Tuesday.
Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma Tweet, ‘ A sub-committee comprising representatives from GoA and All Assam Students Union (AASU) shall formulate the implementation framework within three months for further deliberations on implementation of provisions of Assam Accord, with special ref to clauses 6, 7, 9 & 10.”
The implementation framework would also include updating of NRC, floods & related issues, rehabilitation of families of martyrs and victims of Assam Agitation, among others Dr Sarma also informed.
AASU president Dipankar Kumar Nath said a “Today, 41 member delegation of AASU met chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and all the clauses of Assam Accord were discussed in the meeting. Other issues regarding the development of the state were also discussed,”.
Nath also informed, “We have discussed forming an eight-member team which will create a roadmap for the implementation of the Assam Accord. Within three months, the team will present the report.”
AASU chief advisor Samujjal Bhattacharjee told media persons they also demanded to rename the Guwahati railway station after legendry musician Bhupen Hazarika besides several other demands.
Assam Accord was signed in the presence of the then-Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in New Delhi on August 15, 1985.
