After hectic election campaigning by the political leaders of various parties in the state, the much-awaited by-elections to five assembly seats is being held today.
The Chief Electoral Officer, Nitin Kade is monitoring the poll process through webcasting from CEO office, Dispur, Guwahati.
By-polls to Gossaigaon, Bhabanipur, Tamulpur, Mariani and Thowra were necessitated due to either death of resignations of the respective legislators earlier.
“As 5 LACs go to the Assam ByePolls2021 tomorrow, more than 1100 Polling Stations will accept votes from more than 7 lakh electors.”, reads a tweet by CEO, Assam yesterday evening.
Strict COVID-19 protocols are being followed, with face masks on, maintenance of social distancing, ensured sanitization practices, etc.
