In fond memory of Bharat Ratna “Xudhakanta” Dr. Bhupen Hazarika on his 10th death anniversary today, Tezpur University’s Kanchenjungha Men’s Hostel on Friday observed and organized a musical evening, with strict adherence to Covid-19 protocols.
The evening was graced by Dr. Dhanapati Deka, Dean of Students Welfare, Tezpur University, accompanied by Senior Warden Dr. Rupak Mukhapadhyay and Warden Dr. Md. Rahat Mehboob. They presented a floral tribute to the musical maestro, followed by lighting of the lamp.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dhanapati Deka recalled the diversity and prowess of Hazarika’s song which speaks in regard to promotion of unity and universal brotherhood.
Sharing the same stage, Rupak Mukapadhyay fondly remembered the magnanimous personality of Hazarika, his honors and his contributions in the field of culture and literature of Assam. He said “Hazarika’s genius is of unmatchable worth and his contributions are priceless treasure for Assam and beyond.”
The evening witnessed some of the rendition of masterful creations of Hazarika sung by the boarders of the hostel. Students from all the departments and hostels of the university took active participation in the event, making it a success.
