Assam and Meghalaya Chief Minister jointly inspect Langpih

Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad K Sangma and Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma along with their Cabinet Ministers today jointly visited Langpih, one of the areas of differences in the Assam-Meghalaya Border issue.

Talking to the press after the joint visit, Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma said that it was a historic moment for both States. “It is a historic moment as for the first time the two Chief Ministers have jointly visited different locations at Langpih and interacted with the people,” he told the Press. He added that this was in itself a very positive step forward and sends forth a message of positivity, friendship, goodwill and the commitment of the government to the people
of both the States that the governments of Assam and Meghalaya are serious about the issue.

The Meghalaya CM Conrad K Sangma also informed that it was also decided that the time for the regional committees to submit their reports to the Chief Ministers is 30th November 2021 post which the Chief Ministers would then hold consultations with other stakeholders within their respective States after which the governments will issue a final statement on the six areas of difference
