As part of pan India Swarnim Vijay Varsh celebrations commemorating the 50 years of Liberation war of Bangladesh, Indian Army, on 26 Nov, is carrying the Victory Flame to the City of Joy , Kolkata. A grand reception is being planned at Eco Park to receive the same. The essence of the event is an acknowledement of the efforts of the common men with the co-operation of Indian Armed Forces in the Liberation War.
Bengali Film actor and Member of Parliament Mimi Chakraborty , renowned face of Tollywood Abir Chatterjee and some other dignitaries will grace the event.
Kolkata and HQ , Eastern Command had been in the heart of things during the war. The arrival of the Victory Flame in the town is a matter of joy for the people of Kolkata .
Indian Army requests everyone in Kolkata to witness the occasion by being present in this momentous event.
Incidentally the Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Mukund Naravane yesterday released a book titled “Bangladesh Liberation @ 50 Years: ‘Bijoy’ with Synergy” today. The book is a mixture of historical and anecdotal accounts of the 1971 war from authors of India and Bangladesh as well.
He praised Bangla people who stood to their right to liberty and independence in 1971.In his speech, he acknowledged that the Bangladesh Liberation War changed the lives and destinies of millions of Bangla brothers and sisters. This year has a special significance as both countries celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations which also coincides with the Golden Jubilee of Liberation of Bangladesh and the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
This historical extravaganza aims at bringing people of the two neighbouring countries closer.
