Regional Outreach Bureau, Guwahati organised a webinar on “Janajatiya Gaurav Diwas: History of Tribal people, Culture & Achievement of Assam” today. This webinar has been organised to recognize the cultural heritage of the tribal communities and to mark their contributions in the state.
Addressing the webinar Smt. Swarna Saikia Deori, Chairperson, Integrated Tribal Development Project (ITDP), Dibrugarh, Assam said that the present government has taken several initiatives for the upliftment of the tribal communities in Assam. She said that in present times the tribal people are no longer left behind and the schemes launched by the government for the indigenous communities have helped them to earn their livelihood. While speaking about the tribal women and youth in Assam, Smt. Saikia said that today the government has taken up every measure, from giving employment to the tribal women of rural areas to distributing high yield seeds among the youths who are engaged in agricultural activities.
The webinar was attended by the officials of Press Information Bureau and Regional Outreach Bureau of Guwahati. Smt. W. Panthoibi Singha, Field Publicity Officer, ROB Guwahati, moderated the webinar. Smt. Smita Saikia, Media and Communications Officer, PIB Guwahati delivered the vote of thanks.
