India is celebrating ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’ in remembrance of 50 years of strategic victory in 1971 Indo-Pak War, which resulted in the creation of a new Nation ‘Bangladesh’.
16 December 2021 will be marked as the 50th year of the liberation of Bangladesh and India’s victory over Pakistan in the 1971 Indo-Pak War. To commemorate this landmark event in India’s history, Swarnim Vijay Varsh celebrations are being organised throughout the Country.
The observance of this 50th Anniversary of India’s victory over Pakistan is to pay tributes to the 1971 war heroes, on 16 December 2020 one ‘Swarnim Vijay Mashaal’; Victory Torch lit from the eternal flame of the National War Memorial Delhi was sent towards Eastern India with the aim of spreading awareness of the valour and indomitable spirit of Indian warriors.
The Golden Jubilee celebrations of the historic 1971 Indo-Pak war continued in the city of Kolkata on 30 Nov 2021 with a magnificent reception of the Swarnim Vijay Varsh Victory Flame at the Naval Barge ‘Rupnarayan, at Princep Ghat on the bank of the Hooghly(Ganga) river.
The Victory Flame was received with full military honours by Captain Joydeep Chakraborty, Naval Officer-in-Charge, West Bengal. Several Naval officers and sailors attended who shared with the audience about the significant role of the Eastern Naval Command in isolating and trapping the Pakistan Navy, there by contributing towards the historic victory. The event included guard of honour to Victory Flame by ceremonial guard of Navy, Victory Flame journey on Naval barge along the Hooghly(Ganga) river up to iconic Howrah bridge and the emcee briefing the audience on the significant events of the 1971 war leading to the liberation of Bangladesh from Pak. The band display by the 4/9 Gorkha Rifles and Assam Regiment was applauded and appreciated by the gathering for their mesmerising and captivating tunes.
The event culminated with the departure of the Victory Flame to continue its journey in the City of Joy to spread awareness among the masses about the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War.
