Bengal U19 bolwers Amrit Raj Upadhyay and Ravi Kumar have been selected to by all-India Junior Selection Committee for the 20-member India U19 squad for the upcoming ACC U19 Asia Cup to be played in the UAE from 23rd December.
“I congratulate the two young cricketers on behalf of CAB, on being selected. We are hopeful that they will prove their merit. At CAB we have always stretched on producing young cricketers and finding out young talents. This selection only shows that we are moving in the right direction,” said CAB President Avishek Dalmiya.
Left arm spinner Amrit and medium fast bowler Ravi have been on top of their game in the recent times with both being in the recently concluded U19 Triangular Series in Kolkata.
An excited Ravi Kumar said: “I am very excited and happy. There’s nothing better than representing your country, a dream come true feeling. I have been selected for the first time for an U19 team and got into India U19 squad as well, what more can I ask for. I thank CAB, my coaches for supporting me and helping me in my journey.”
“I have practiced hard, gave my everything. I thank CAB, my coaches guided me through my journey and Bengal U19 coach Devang Gandhi who helped me get here. Playing U19 Triangular Series helped me understand my abilities as well as my mistakes, with that experience I hope to do good,” said Amrit while speaking to CAB Media.
The selectors have also announced a 25-member squad for a preparatory camp at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru from December 11th-19th ahead of the ACC event.
