Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is a campaign launched by our Hon’ble Prime Minister to highlight the importance of cleanliness in the surroundings. It was inaugurated on 02 October 2014 to honour the vision of cleanliness of Mahatma Gandhi. National Cadet Corps (NCC) has always been at the fore front of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyans. In the last two months, 2,60,705 cadets have participated in the ‘Clean India Campaign’ from 01-31 Oct 2021 and 41,228 cadets participated in ‘Ganga Utsav’ from 01-03 Nov 2021. NCC is now carrying out a nationwide campaign to Clean Sea Shores/Beaches of the plastic waste & other waste along the Sea Shores and increase awareness about importance of keeping the Sea shores free from Plastic waste.
NCC is conducting ‘PUNEET SAGAR ABHIYAN’ by cleaning the Sea Shores/Beaches to propagate the message of “Importance of Clean Sea Shores/B eaches” amongst the local population and future generation from 01-30 Dec 2021.
Key Objectives
The Key Objectives of the campaign for NCC is: –
(a) To Clean the Plastic waste along the Sea Shores in coastal areas.
(b) To generate awareness and educate target population about the measures for conservation and impact of plastic pollution along the Sea Beaches.
(c) To sensitize and mobilize support of local population towards prevention of pollution of Sea Beaches.
Rally in Kolkata
On 15 December 2021, 50 NCC cadets under 39 Bengal Bn NCC, Jadavpur belonging to Govt ITI College, Gariahat and Vijaygarh Jyotish Ray College, Vijaygarh carried out two rallies near their respective schools to create awareness on the ill effects of Beach Littering and its harmful impact to the environment.
