On December 16, 2021, the troops of Border Out Post Arshikari, 112 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier, seized 800 Yaba tablets worth Rs.04 lakhs from the International Border. The smuggler was trying to smuggle the Yaba tablet from India to Bangladesh from the area of North 24 Parganas district.
On December 16, 2021, On the basis of specific information the troops of Border Out Post Arshikari, 112 Battalion, was conducted raid campaign at Mohd. Ibrahim’s(Smuggler) house which is located in Arshikari village near the International Border. During this, when the house was searched at around 0810 in the presence of the village head and the member, 800 yaba tablets were recovered from a PVC pipe from the house. The jawans seized all the Yaba tablets and took the smuggler into custody for questioning.
The identity of the apprehended smuggler Md. Ibrahim, age 35 years, village Arshikari, Post Office – Bithari, Thana – Swaroop Nagar, District – North 24 Parganas.
In the preliminary interrogation, Md. Ibrahim revealed that he is an Indian citizen and has been involved in the smuggling of Yaba tablets for a long time. He further revealed that last evening, on December 15, another smuggler Samim Sardar, a resident of his village, had provided him all these Yaba tablets. Meanwhile, BSF raided his house and seized all 800 Yaba tablets and took him into custody. He further revealed that on December 04, 2021 also the troops of BSF had raided his house, in which 1200 Yaba tablets worth Rs 06 lakh were recovered from his house. But at that time he managed to escape from the spot even before the troops could raid.
All the seized Yaba tablets and apprehended smuggler were handed over to Police Station Swaroop Nagar for further legal proceedings.
The Public Relations Officer, South Bengal Frontier, expressed happiness over the achievements of the 112 Battalion troops. He stated that how the seized Yaba tablet reached to Md. Ibrahim and our intelligence team is working to find out the partner involved in this smuggling. He also stated that stopping this type of smuggling has been possible only because of the alertness displayed by their jawans on duty.
