On 18 December 2021, Border Security Force under South Bengal Frontier apprehended 02 smugglers with 95 bottles of Phensedyl in the border area and on the other hand seized 643 Phensedyl bottles from their border area, thwarting the plans of smugglers. The total value of seized Phensedyl is Rs 1,37,748.

In the first incident, on 18 December 2021 at around 1930 hrs at Border Out Post Dobarpara, 158 Battalion troops saw 03–04 smugglers moving from India to Bangladesh. BSF jawans ordered them to stop and apprehended the two smugglers with 95 Phensedyl Bottles. The rest of the smugglers fled away taking advantage of the darkness.
The apprehended smuggler has been identified as Safikul Islam, S/o- Mohammad Jahan Ali Sardar, Village-Panchbhulet, PS-Sarsa, District-Jaisore, Bangladesh.
2) Nazrul Islam, S/o– Mohammad Sardar Ali, Village – Agrabhulet, PS– Sarsa, District – Jessore, Bangladesh.
In the initial interrogation, Safikul revealed that both of them were looking for coming to India and taking Phensedyl from Sanjeet (Village-Gadhadharpur, Thana Gaighata, District North 24 Parganas) and going back to Bangladesh. There it was to be handed over to Mohammad Tarikul, (Father – Mohammad Badal Sardar, Village – Panchbhulet, PS– Sarsa, District – Jessore, Bangladesh). For this work he had to get 3500 BD taka. Both also revealed that even before this they have smuggled by cutting the Border Fence several times.
In another incident, on 18 December, 2021 at around 1740 hrs at Border Out Post Pipli, 158 Battalion troops thwarted the attempts of smugglers and seized 643 Phensedyl bottles. However, the smugglers escaped.
The apprehended Bangladeshi smugglers and the seized Phensedyl are being handed over to the concerned police station Gaighata for further legal action.
Public Relations Officer, South Bengal Frontier of the Border Security Force expressed happiness over the achievement of 158 Battalion troops and stated that our jawans are committed to completely stop smuggling in the area. Due to the vigilance and understanding of the troops, two Bangladeshi smugglers were apprehended and 738 bottles of Phensedyl could be seized.
