Smugglers keep adopting new methods for smuggling from India to Bangladesh in the border areas. But the Border Security Force (BSF) is thwarting the nefarious efforts of smugglers due to the constant tightening of its borders. South Bengal Frontier BSF troops are regularly seizing banned items especially Phensedyl, Ganja, Yaba Tablets, Mobiles etc. Consequently, smuggling has come down to almost zero level and the backbone of the smugglers has been broken. In this sequence, troops of Border Out Post Sasani, 70 Battalion seized Yaba tablet and 50 grams of brown sugar (suspicious) (prohibited items) worth about 10.40 lakhs.
The South Bengal Frontier issued a statement saying that the soldiers in their area are conducting regular operations on the basis of solid information. In a series of operations, Border Post Sasani, BSF personnel thwarted smuggling by giving proof of their readiness in the night of 18 December 2021. In this operation, 2080 Yaba tablets and 50 grams of suspected brown sugar powder were confiscated. The value of the confiscated narcotic is Rs.10,40,000/-.
The seized narcotics have been handed over to the Police Station Golapganj, Kaliachak for further action.
Public Relations Officer, South Bengal Frontier stated that the BSF is taking stringent steps to stop the smuggling of banned items along the Indo-Bangladesh border. Operations are being carried out continuously and smuggling attempts are being foiled. He clearly stated that any smuggler involved in smuggling will not be spared.
