On 22 December 2021, the troops of Border Out Post Khandwa, 78 Bn BSF, Sector Malda, seized 1.2 kg of suspected narcotic substance near International Boundary(IB).

On 22 December, 2021 at around 1745 hrs, on the basis of specific information the troops of Border Out Post Khandwa observed that a small plastic bag was being thrown over the improvised fencing towards Bangladesh side. The troops warned the smugglers to stop but they did not pay any heed towards them. In order to disorganise their smuggling activities, BSF troops fired one round of Non- lethal Pump Action Gun (PAG). Thereafter, the smugglers fled away leaving the plastic bag on the spot. After thorough search of the area 1.2 kg brown colored powder (suspected to be Heroin) was found in a bag. The value of confiscated heroine in the international market is around Rs 2,50,00000.

The seized heroin is being handed over to the Police Station Lalgola for further legal action.

In a statement issued by the BSF South Bengal Frontier, it was stated that smugglers keep adopting new ways to smuggle, but in front of the vigilance of BSF troops, the plans of the smugglers get spoiled. Headquarters has made it clear that under no circumstances smuggling will be allowed from its area.
