Nagaon-Cachar Paper Mill employees send “protest” video message to PM

The employees of Nagaon and Cachar Paper Mill have been requested by Manabendra Chakraborty, President of the Joint Action Committee of Recognized Unions (JACRU) to send a video message to PM Modi as a mark of protest, reference revival of the two paper mills.

“We would like to thank Prime Minister Dangriya from all the paper mill workers. (Sic.)”, says Chakraborty.

He adds, “Ninety-nine workers have died of starvation and malnutrition for over 60 months, and we are still alive, waiting to die.”

Hindustan Papermill (HPC) is an extended arm of the Union Government to intensify the movement for literacy through the growth of the paper industry, according to their official website.

Today it is one of the largest manufacturers of paper and newsprint in South East Asia. Simultaneously, HPC has been playing a dominant role in the socio-economic development of the North-East region.
