On January 15, 2022, troops of Border Security Force(BSF) under South Bengal Frontier seized 60 kg of silver jewelery from near the International Boundary. Smugglers were trying to smuggle the seized silver jewelery from India to Bangladesh from the area of ​​Border Out Post Tentulberia, 158 Bn BSF, North 24 Parganas District.
On January 15, 2022, on the basis of specific information, the troops of Border Out Post Tentulberia, 158 Bn, Sector Kolkata conducted a search operation in the suspected area near the International Boundary. Around 1725 hrs, three big plastic bags (potlas) were recovered from bambu bush near Garjala Primary School, from inside which 60 kg silver jewelery was found. The estimated cost of seized Silver Jewelry is Rs 30,38,400/-.
The seized silver jewelery has been handed over to the Customs’ Office Petrapole for further legal action.
The Public Relations Officer, South Bengal Frontier has expressed happiness over the achievements of the troops of 158 Bn BSF. He stated that the Intelligence Department is working for who is behind the seized silver. He also stated that stopping this type of smuggling has been possible only because of the alertness displayed by their jawans on duty.
