BSF RESCUED RARE SPECIES OF PARROTS FROM THE CLUTCHES OF SMUGGLERS ON INDO-BANGLADESH BORDER, WOMAN SMUGGLER ALSO APPREHENDED

On January 5, 2022, South Bengal Frontier jawans nabbed a female smuggler while rescuing 06 parrots of the rare species while thwarting the smuggling of wildlife along the Indo-Bangladesh border. All these birds were being smuggled from India to Bangladesh in the area of ​​Border Out Post Hakimpur, North 24 Parganas district.

On 15 January, 2022 on the basis of specific information, the troops of Border Out Post Hakimpur, 112 Bn, Sector Kolkata laid an Ambush near the International Boundary, around 1725 hrs Ambush Party observed a suspecious movement of a woman with a bag. The woman was trying to go to Hakimpur village. When the Ambush Party challenged her, the woman tried to run away by throwing the bag, the Ambush Party chased her and took the woman into custody. When Ambush Party searched the area, a nylon bag was recovered from a nearby mustard field inside which 06 parrots of different colors were found. The apprehended smuggler (female) has been identified as Rupbhan Dalal, age – 38 years, Village + Post – Hakimpur, PS – Swaroopnagar, District – North 24 Parganas.

During interrogation, the apprehended smuggler (female) Rupbhan Dalal revealed that she has been working as a smuggler carrier for the last few days, today (January 15) she had taken all these parrots from a woman named Sarifa Bibi, a resident of her own village. After crossing the BSF duty line, these parrots were to be handed back to her in Hakimpur village. For which he had to get Rs 100/-.

All the birds rescued from the clutches of smugglers and the apprehended female smugglers have been handed over to Customs Office Tentulia for further legal proceedings.

The Public Relations Officer, South Bengal Frontier expressed happiness over the achievement of the troops of 112 Bn BSF in thwarting the smuggling of a female smuggler along with 06 parrots of a rare species. He stated that this has been possible only because of the alertness displayed by the jawans on duty. The officer clearly stated that nothing can hide from the eyes of his BSF troops.
