The Member of Parliament (MP) from Nagaon Constituency in Central Assam, Pradyut Bordoloi has written to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, requesting for an online exam centre in the district.
“Wrote to Dr. Dharmendra Pradhan requesting the set up of additional online examination centre in Nagaon ahead of upcoming national competitive exams.”, reads a tweet by MP Bordoloi.
He adds, “This will promote accessibility, benefitting youths from the middle Assam districts who presently travel to far-off centres.”
“I am writing to request the inclusion of an additional online examination centre in the city of Nagaon, which falls within my parliamentary constituency of Nowgong, Assam.”, the letter reads, undersigned by Bordoloi.
It adds, “As per my knowledge, the National Testing Agency (NTA) centres in Assam are limited to Dibrugarh, Guwahati, Jorhat, Silchar and Tezpur.”
It underlines, “This makes it very difficult for aspirants from the Central Assam Division, including districts such as Nagaon, Hojai and Morigaon, to access these test centres.”
It further adds, “Travelling to far off online examination centres places a financial burden on students, in the case of unavailability or unreliability of public transport.”
It also underlines, “Further, given that Assam is routinely prone to floods, travelling to far off exam venues during the monsoon season poses an additional safety and logistical hurdle to students.”
The letter concludes, “I urge you to consider setting up an additional centre in the city of Nagaon in the interest of promoting accessibility of national exams conducted by the National Testing Agency as well as other agencies.”
