Regional Outreach Bureau, Guwahati under Ministry of Information & Broadcasting in association with Sashastra Seema Bal, Frontier Guwahati has organised a small ICOP and an exhibition on Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav on the eve of Republic Day on 25th & 26th January 2022 at 1st Bn. SSB, Sonapur.
Shri S.N. Pradhan, Additional Director General, North East Zone, Ministry of I&B, along with Shri Sanjeev Sharma, Inspector General, SSB, Guwahati Frontier inaugurated the two day long programme. The highlights of the programme include exhibition of weapons, dog show, marching of army bands, free medical camp, art competition and cultural programme.
Addressing the gathering, Sh. Sanjeev Sharma, IG, Ftr Hqr SSB, Guwahati, has apprised that the exhibition is organized for promoting homage to Mahatma Gandhi and great personalities who laid down their lives in the freedom struggle. He added that “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is a tribute by the government to our freedom fighters and freedom movement.” He praised Regional Outreach Bureau, Guwahati for successfully carrying the exhibition on Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav on the eve of Independence Day. He informed that SSB has continuously inculcating the feelings of nationalism and evoking awareness among the border population. He said SSB has been a catalyst and harbinger in Indo-Nepal and Indo-Bhutan border areas for bringing noticeable changes and remarkable improvements in the lives of its key stakeholders with selfless efforts and focused approach. In his address, he informed that SSB has been providing an equitable social platform to the local women and youth folks for demonstrating their creativity and showcasing their dynamism with whole SSB family.
In the exhibition, a variety of items like weapon artifacts were displayed. The medical camp was also organised for the local residents. Arrangements have also been made for children to enjoy amusement park facilities.
On this occasion, Sh. Arijit Chakraborty, Deputy Director, ROB Guwahati, commended the sincere endeavour and noble approach of SSB, Frontier Guwahati, for creating and carving a niche in its welfare activities by working selflessly for the welfare and wellbeing of people. He said that the exhibition will spread the feelings of nationalism and will evoke awareness among people.
The inaugural function was attended by Sh. B.S Jaiswal, DIG, Ftr Hqr SSB, Guwahati, Officials of Regional Outreach Bureau, Guwahati and Press Information Bureau, SSB Wives’ Welfare Association(SWWA) members, and other prominent guests.
