On 30th January, 2022, around midnight, under the South Bengal Frontier, troop of the Border Out Post Narsaripara, 141 Battalion, observed a suspicious movement in its area and immediately informed to the patrolling party and fellow jawan. The patrolling party noticed that some Bangladeshi smugglers were moving on the banks of the Mathabhanga river. The troops immediately launched a search operation. Seeing the troops coming towards them, the smugglers took advantage of the darkness and fled towards Bangladesh. On searching of the area one country-made pistol, 01 magazine and 04 live rounds were recovered. Before the smugglers could succeed in their plans, BSF jawans foiled their conspiracy. On gathering information by the BSF’s intelligence department, it has been learned that the smugglers had the intention of smuggling by making likely use of firing on the jawans and injuring them.
The seized items have been handed over to Hoogalberia Police Station for further legal action.
The Public Relations Officer, South Bengal Frontier while encouraging his jawans stated that our jawans are committed to completely stop smuggling in the area. He further stated that smugglers in this area are trying to forcibly smuggle by attacking on the troops. But it is not feasible to smuggle in the area of responsibility due to alertness of jawans.
