On 6th February, 2022 under the South Bengal Frontier, troops of Border Out Post Pargumati, 118 Battalion apprehended four Bangladeshi nationals illegally crossing the border from India to Bangladesh in the area of ​​North 24 Parganas district.

On 6th February, 2022 at about 1230 hrs, based on reliable information, the troops of Border Out Post Pargumati, 118 Battalion, Sector Kolkata launched a search operation in the area. During the operation, the jawans observed the movement of 04 persons near Uketan Niketan Club in Pargumati village. The Border Security Force troops challenged and apprehended those persons.

The apprehended persons have been identified as 1. Surma Khatoon, age 19 years S/o Rafikul Islam, W/o Nooror Jamal, 2. Noor Hasan, age 5, (Soorma Khatoon’s boy), 3. Nooror Jamal, age 24 years, S/o Golzar Dhali, 4. Nazima Khatoon, age 50 years, W/o Safikul Sardar, village Koira, PS Koira, District Khulna, Bangladesh.

During preliminary interrogation, Soorma Khatoon revealed that she is a Bangladeshi citizen, she came to India illegally 10 years ago with her parents. After coming to India, she went to Ghuni, Mazherpara, New Town, Kolkata. She revealed that in 2015 she got married to a Bangladeshi national Nooror Jamal who lives with her parents in Kolkata. The woman revealed that today she was going to Bangladesh with her husband and child. For this work they contacted to an Indian tout Mujibar Rehman Tarafdar, S/o Ziyad Taardar, village North Gobindkati Purbapara, PS Hingalganj, District North 24 Parganas. For this work they had given 12,000 rupees per person.

During preliminary interrogation, Nazima Khatoon revealed that she had come to India illegally 13 years ago. She revealed that her husband, Mohammad Safikul Sardar, works as a garbage collector in Ghuni, New Town, Kolkata. The woman told that she had come with the family of Nooror Jamal in a bus till Basirhat. After that, she stayed at the house of Nooror Jamal’s brother in Basirhat (Slice Gate, Boat Ghat, Basirhat) for two days. After that the Indian tout Mujibar took them to the border by bike. The woman revealed that as soon as they were trying to cross the border, the troops apprehended them.

Apart from this, in another incident, troops of Border Out Post Gowardha, 153 Battalion during a search operation apprehended an Indian tout who helps people to cross the border illegally. The apprehended person has been identified as Zakir Hussain Ghazi, age 24 yeras, S/o Kabir Ghazi, village Bhaduria, South Gazipara, PS Swarupnagar, District North 24 Parganas.

During preliminary interrogation, the man revealed that he is an Indian citizen. He told that he helps people on the border to cross the border illegally. He revealed that today Saiful Hossain, village Hakimpur, PS Swarupnagar contacted him. He was asked by the person to drop 02 Bangladeshi nationals from Tentulia to Bangaon. For this work he was to get 1000/- rupees.

All the apprehend persons have been handed over to Hingalganj and Swarupnagar respectively for further legal action.

Public Relations Officer, South Bengal Frontier stated in a statement that the Border Security Force is taking strict measures to check smuggling along the Indo-Bangladesh border. Further, the officer stated in strong words that the Border Security Force will not allow smuggling under any circumstances.
