BSF APPREHENDED 01 PHENSEDYL SMUGGLER ON INDO-BANGLADESH BORDER

BSF troops under the South Bengal Frontier seized 857 bottles of banned Phensidyl cough syrup in separate incidents from the area of ​​their responsibility in the Indo-Bangladesh International Border Area, thwarting the attempts of smugglers. Along with this, 01 smuggler has also been apprehended. The estimated value of the seized Phensedyl is Rs 1,59,959. Smugglers were trying to smuggle all these Phensedyl bottles from India to Bangladesh.

According to the statement, on the basis of specific information on February 15, the troops of Border Out Post MS Pur, 70 Battalion, Sector Malda were alerted. At around 1140 hrs, the jawans saw the movement of 05–06 suspected smugglers who were trying to cross the International Boundary with the potlas(Bag). The troops challenged the smugglers as they approached the Fencing. After seeing the BSF troops, the smugglers started running, but the BSF apprehended 01 smuggler. 24 bottles of Phensidyl were recovered from the smuggler. The apprehended smuggler has been identified as Samar Karmakar, Father- Otish Karmakar, Village+Post- Umakantola, PS- Kaliachak, District-Malda West Bengal.

The smuggler admitted that he has been doing smuggling work for the last few days.

During interrogation smuggler admitted that he has been doing the work of smuggling for the past few days. The smuggler revealed that these Phensedyl bottles were given to him by Chandu Mandal, Father- Bhutesh Mandal, Village-Nawada Binpara Post-Umakantola, Police Station- Kaliachak, District Malda. After crossing the International Boundary, these phensedyl bottles were to be handed over to Bangladeshi smuggler Rubbu Shaikh and his brother Sonarbi Shaikh, father- Faizal Shaikh, Village-Chakpara, Thana- Shivganj, District- Chapainwabganj, Bangladesh .

In other incidents, troops of the South Bengal Frontier seized 833 Phensidyl bottles from their area of ​​responsibility.

Here, the apprehended smugglers and the seized Phensedyl bottles have been handed over to the concerned Custom Office/Police Station for further legal action.

At the same time, the South Bengal Frontier Public Relations Officer, expressing happiness over this success, patted his troops on the back. He stated that this has been possible only because of the alertness displayed by his jawans on duty. The officer clearly stated that nothing can hide from the eyes of his soldiers. They will not allow smuggling from their area under any circumstances. He also added that he has an excellent team to give accurate information related to smuggling.
