BSF APPREHENDED 02 PHENSEDYL SMUGGLERS RED-HANDED ON INDO-BANGLADESH BORDER

The South Bengal Frontier troops apprehended 02 smugglers (one Bangladeshi & one Indian) with 400 bottles of Phensedyl in two separate incidents on 22 February 2022 from the area of their responsibility. The total cost of the seized Phensedyl bottles is Rs 74,660. Smugglers were trying to take these Phensedyl bottles from India to Bangladesh.

In the first incident on February 22, 2022 at around 0330 hrs, on the basis of specific information, the troops of Border Out Post Tentulberia, 158 Battalion, Sector Kolkata, laid an ambush in the suspected area . Around 0510 hrs, the troops noticed the movement of some suspicious persons. On seeing the BSF troops, all the suspected persons started running away but one of them was apprehended by the troops. A bag was recovered from his possession. 300 Phensedyl bottles were recovered after a thorough search of the area.

The apprehended person has been identified as 1) Liton Hussain, age 19 years, S/o Jahangir Hussain, Village Rudrapur, Post Office- Goga, Thana- Sarsa, District Jessore, Bangladesh.During preliminary interrogation, the person revealed that he had taken these Phensedyl bottles from Mosiyar Mandal (Father– Odut Mandal, Village Garjala, Post Office- Tentulberia, Thana – Gaighata, District – North 24 Village) and after crossed the IB it was to hand over to Atikul (Village Rudrapur, Post Office Goga, Thana – Sarsa, District Jessore, Bangladesh). But as soon as he was trying to cross the International Boundary, he was apprehended by the Border Security Force troops.

In another incident, on February 22, 2022, based on specific informationa the troops of Border Out Post Nawada, 70 Battalion laid special ambush in the area of village Sukhnagar. Ambush party noticed movement of smugglers with small bags (potlas). The Ambush Party chased them and apprehended one of the smugglers. 100 bottles of Phensedyl were recovered from the smuggler.

Apprehended smuggler has been identified as-


Inderjit Mandal, 20 years, S/o – Vijay Mandal, Village – Akhandboria, Post – Ramnagar, Police Station – Kaliachak, Distt. – Malda (West Bengal).


During preliminary interrogation, Inderjit Mandal revealed that he had taken these Phensedyl bottle from Barun Mandal (Age – 23 Years), S/o – Ramesh Mandal, Village – Janutola, Post – Umakantol, Police Station – Kaliachak, Dist – Malda (West Bengal). After crossing the BSF duty line it was to be hand over to Dulal Sheikh, s/o – Manirul Sheikh, Village and Post – Chakpras, Thana – Shivganj, District – Chapainwabganj (Bangladesh). For which he had to get 1000 rupees.

The apprehended smugglers are being handed over to the concerned Police Station along with the seized items.

The Public Relations Officer of South Bengal Frontier stated that the Border Security Force is taking strict steps to stop smuggling along the Indo-Bangladesh border. Due to which the people involved in such crimes are facing a lot of difficulties. Further the officer stated in strong words that we will not allow smuggling from our area under any circumstances.
