BSF thwarts smugglers’ attempts and apprehended an Indian smuggler with Fake Indian Currency worth Rs 1.35 lakh

On 24 February, 2022 at 1230 hrs, the Border Out Post MS Pur, 70 Battalion posted on the border in Malda district under South Bengal Frontier, on the basis of specific information, a Special Vehicle checkingTeam was deployed in the general area of ​​the village MS Pur. Taking action by the Special Vehicle Checking Team, a smuggler on a motorcycle was apprehended while going from village MS Pur towards village Nawada. The BSF party checked the motorcycle and recovered a bundle of Indian fake notes worth Rs 135,500 from the cavity between the handle and headlight. The checking party seized the items and took the smuggler into custody.

Identity of the smuggler Ujjwal Pramanik (Age – 35 Years) S/o– Late Surendra Nath Pramanik, Village + Post – Bholachak, Police Station – Kaliachak, District -Malda (West Bengal).

During preliminary questioning, Ujjwal Pramanik revealed that he took these fake notes from Rubbu Sheikh (Age – 28 Years) S/o- Samit Sheikh, Village – Upper Chakparas, Post – Chakrapara, PS – Shivganj, Distt. – Chapai Nawabganj (Bangladesh). After crossing the duty line of BSF, these notes were to be handed over to Viku Mandal (Age – 43 Years) Father – Dharoni Mandal, Village & Dak – Bholaichak, PS – Kaliachak, District – Malda (West Bengal).

The apprehended person along with the seized items has been handed over to PP Gulabganj, Kaliachak Police Station for further legal action.

The Public Relations Officer has expressed happiness over the achievements of the jawans, in which 70 Battalion has apprehended an Indian smuggler with fake notes of Rs 135,500/-. He stated that this has been possible only because of the alertness shown by his jawans on duty.
