BSF foiled the efforts of smugglers on Border and apprehends two Indian smugglers

In the intervening night of 07/08 March, 2022, the troops of Border Out Post MS Pur and Nawada, 70 Bn BSF, Sector Malda under South Bengal Frontier, in two separate incidents, apprehended two Indian smugglers with 425 bottles of Phensedyl worth Rs 79,326. Smugglers were trying to take all these Phensedyl bottles from India to Bangladesh.

On the basis of specific information, the troops of 70 Battalion laid two ambushes in the area of ​​village MS Pur and Nawada. Both Ambush parties apprehended two smugglers with small bags (potlas) from their respective areas. Both smugglers were moving towards the International Boundary for the purpose of smuggling. A total of 425 Phensedyl bottles were recovered from them.

Both the smugglers Identified as
a)Sujit Mandal, (Age – 32 years), S/o- Mrityunjal Mandal, Village – Nawada Bin Para, Post – Umakantola, Police Station – Kaliachak, District – Malda (West Bengal)
b) Mukhtar Hussain (Age – 29 years) S/o- Mumtaz Hussain, Village – Gopalnagar, Post – Sasani, PS – Kaliachak, Malda (West Bengal).

During the preliminary interrogation Sujit Mandal revealed that he had given these Phensedyl bottles to Chandu Mandal (Age – 22 Years), S/o- Bhutesh Mandal,Village – Nawada Bin Para, Post – Umakantol, PS – Kaliachak, Dist- Malda (West) from Bengal). after crossing the International Boundary all these Phensedyl bottles were to be handed over to Rubbu Shaikh (Age – 28 Years), S/o- Faizal Shaikh, Village & Post – Chakrapara, PS-Shivganj, District – Chapainwabganj (Bangladesh).

The apprehended Mukhtar Hussain revealed that he had given these Phensedyl bottles to Sharif Sheikh (Age – 40 years), Father – Nazirul Sheikh, Village – Gopalnagar, Post – Sasani, PS – Kaliachak, Distt – Malda (West Bengal). After crossing the International Boundary all these Phensedyl bottles were to be handed over to Asadul Sk (Age – 35 Years), S/o- Rafiq Sheikh, Village – Bagichapar, Post – Azmatpur, PS – Shivganj, District-Chapainwabganj
(Bangladesh).

The apprehended smugglers are being handed over to the Police Station Gulabganj, Kaliachak along with the seized Phensedyl.

Public Relations Officer, South Bengal Frontier has expressed happiness over the achievements of the jawans in which 70 Battalion apprehended two Indian smugglers with 425 Phensedyl bottles and foiled the attempt of smuggling. He stated that this has been possible only because of the alertness shown by the jawans on duty.
