On March 12, 2022, Border Out Post Gede, 54 Battalion alert troops given a befitting reply to the new maneuver of smugglers by recovering three gold biscuits from the possession of a Bangladeshi national on LCS( Land Custom Station) Gede. According to the statement of BSF, the total weight of the seized Gold biscuits is 300 grams. The total cost of which is Rs.16,20,000/-.

On the basis of specific information of BSF Intelligence, on March 12, 2022, a special operation was conducted at Gede Railway Station by the troops of Border Out Post Grde, in which suspicious activities of a person were observed.
The suspect was taken into custody for search. On search of the person, three gold biscuits hidden inside the slippers were recovered.

During interrogation, the smuggler was identified as Mohammad Jamiruddin Khan, age – 27 years, S/o – Jalal Khan, West Bhujpur, Ward No. 03, District – Chattogram, Bangladesh. He further revealed that he twice legally brought gold from Dubai and sold in Dhaka. He further revealed that in order to earn more money, he thought of selling Gold in India this time and that is why he was bringing three gold biscuits hidden in his slippers when the BSF apprehended him.

The apprehended Bangladeshi smuggler along with the seized gold biscuits has been handed over to Customs Office Banpur for further legal proceedings.

Shri Desh Raj Singh, Commanding Officer 54 Battalion informed that the BSF is taking stringent steps to stop smuggling along the Indo-Bangladesh border. Consequently people involved in such crimes are facing a lot of difficulties. Smugglers having wrong intentions will not be spared. He stated that the BSF troops are being given proper training about every modus operandi of the smugglers, so that the smugglers’ trap can be broken.
