BSF apprehended Bangladeshi national, handed over to BGB as a goodwill gesture

The Border Security Force said in a statement that on the midnight of March 11, at around 2330 hrs, alert troops of Border Out Post Jeetpur, Adhoc VII BSF apprehended a person while crossing the International Boundary illegally.

The apprehended person has been identified as Iktar Talib Shaikh, age 40 years, Father- Talib Shaikh, District- Jessore, Bangladesh.

During interrogation, Iqtar Talib Sheikh revealed that he had come to India with his wife 6 months ago and used to work as a laborer at a place called Nayanagar in Thane, Mumbai. He further told that he had some health issues and due to which he was returning to Bangladesh and he had given 10,000 rupees to an unknown broker to cross the IB.

The apprehended person has been handed over to the Border Guard Bangladesh for the sake of humanity and goodwill.

Om Prakash Sharma, Officiating Commanding officer , Adhoc VII Battalion informed that the Border Security Force is taking strict steps to stop illegal cross-border movement along the border. Due to which touts and his associates are facing a lot of difficulties and some of them are being caught, who are also being punished according to the law. Also, in view of the seriousness of the crime of the captured Bangladeshi nationals, the Border Guard is being handed over to Bangladesh due to mutual cooperation and goodwill of the Border Guarding Forces of both the countries.
