100 days 100 district campaign “Aashwasan” to break the chain of the spread of COVID and TB infection was launched by the Hon’ble Minister Shri. Kunga Nima Lepcha, Hon’ble Minister Shri Bhim Hang Limboo accompanied by DM Gyalshing IAS Karma Bonpo, CMO Gyalshing Dr. Bikash Pradhan and DTO Gyalshing Dr. Smriti Rai.
Piramal Swasthya Management and Research Institute (Anamaya) will conduct door to door awareness campaign regarding TB and COVID in 11 Tribal blocks of West District to address the misconceptions regarding COVID and TB infection and address vaccine hesitancy among the people along with the adoption of COVID appropriate behaviour by the general public. From Piramal Swasthya Shri Tashi Chopel, State Coordinator and District Supervisor Shri Christopher were present.
Along with this, sputum collection and testing will be done based on symptoms through an active case finding campaign of potential TB patients at the village level and TB treatment will be provided free of cost by the government upon confirmation of the disease. This will help in preventing the spread of infectious diseases like TB. Under this campaign people will not need to go to the government health centres for testing, rather the sputum of presumptive cases will be collected from home and transported to the nearest diagnostic centers for testing.
Keeping in view the aspect of community participation, panchayat members, community influencers, tribal leaders and traditional healers will also be involved during the campaign to make the village TB free and educate people about TB disease and its prevention.
The project supported by USAID will be implemented by the Piramal Swasthya Management and Research Institute (Anamaya) with the help of the concerned department in the district.
