The 67th All India Railway Tennis Championship begins

The 67th All India Railway Tennis Championship, 2021-22 organised by the Northeast Frontier Railway Sports Association (NFRSA) started on 26th March, 2022 at N.F. Railway Tennis Complex, Maligaon, Guwahati. The sporting event was inaugurated by General Secretary/NFRSA & Chief Personal Officer/Industrial Relation of N.F. Railway, Shri Sasanka Sharma, in presence of other officials of NFRSA. The tournament will last for four days and will conclude on 30th March, 2022. The Championship will consist of 05 event categories as under Men’s Open Singles, Women’s Open Singles, Veteran Men’s Open Singles, Veteran Men’s Doubles & Men’s Team Event Category.

Participants from eight different zones/PSUs of Indian Railways like ICF (Integral Coach Factory, Chennai), SCR (South Central Railway, Secunderabad), CR (Central Railway, Mumbai), SER (South Eastern Railway, Kolkata), ER (Eastern Railway, Kolkata), RDSO (Research Designs and Standards Organisation, Lucknow), NR (Northern Railway, Delhi) & NFR(Northeast Frontier Railway, Maligaon) being the home team. A total of 52 players and 05 officials participated in the event including both men and women category.

Star player like Nitin Kirtane from Central Railway who represented India in Davis Cup & also a Dhyanchand Awardee of 2019, along with other Star National players like Nitin Kumar Sinha  (current 11th National ranking & represented India in World Railway Championship) from ICF, Prithvi Shekhar (Bronze medallist in Deaf Olympics Mixed Doubles & represented India in World Railway Championship) from ICF, Uday Kumar Reddy (represented India in World Railway Championship) from ICF again and last but not the least is P.C. Vignesh (Former National Champion & represented India in World Railway Championship) from SCR marked their presence in this ongoing tournament.       

ICF. Chennai won the last tournament that was held at Secunderabad in 2019, and there after N.F. Railway marked its continuation after the nation’s steady recovery from Covid-19 pandemic. Sports are an integral part for one’s life to keep mind and body healthy and N.F. Railway is no far behind to add its part to this cause and for its employees.
