IEPFA organized a State level Conference on Investor Education and Awareness in Guwahati, Assam

The Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA) under the aegis of Ministry of Corporate Affairs organized a State Level Conference on Investor Education and Awareness in Guwahati, Assam on March 29, 2022. The Conference was inaugurated by the Hon`ble Governor of Assam, Prof. Jagadish Mukhi who graced the event as the chief guest.

The event was also attended by Sri Santosh Kumar, Regional Director North East Region, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Lt. Col Tushar Anand, General Manager, Investor Education & Protection Fund Authority, CA (Dr.) Debashish Mitra, President, Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and other eminent dignitaries from the IEPFA and ICAI who addressed the participants during the Inaugural Session.

The Chief Guest during his keynote address appreciated IEPFA’s initiative of conducting the State Level Conference on Investor Education & Awareness in Guwahati, Assam.

The commemoration also witnessed address by Sri Santosh Kumar, Regional Director (NER) Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Lt. Col. Tushar Anand and CA Dr. Debashish Mitra President, ICAI sharing the ideas, need and significance of spreading inclusive financial literacy, investor awareness & protection for overall economic growth and nation building.

The first technical session was chaired by Shri Sanjay Jain, Director IEPFA wherein CA Rudramurthy B.V. spoke on the topic “Minds, Markets and Money”. The second technical on the “IEPFA and Investors – Journey, Mandates and Processes” was chaired by  Lt. Col. Sumit Rane, GM IEPFA wherein expert speakers were Shri Gaurav Gupta, DGM and IEPFA Shri Sumit Aggarwal, AGM IEPFA.

Almost 1000 delegates which included more than 600 students from various eminent educational organizations, NCC Cadets, Professionals and other citizens attended the conference. The conference was organized with active collaboration and support of ICAI and Guwahati Branch of ICAI. IEPF Authority has been established under sub-section (5) of section 125 of Companies Act, 2013 with the objective of promoting Investor Education, Awareness and Protection and for administration of the IEPF fund. It has undertaken a wide gamut of activities to accelerate the pace of investor education among the masses at large. Till date more than 63,000 Investor Awareness Programmes covering around 30 lacs citizens have been conducted by IEPFA. In addition, more than 25,000 claim refunds have been approved with transfer of about 1.54 Cr shares and related dividends.
