Lunglei District Election Officer organised ‘SVEEP One Day Futsal Tournament’ today at Bethesda Futsal Ground, Lunglei on 26th March. ‘Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP)’ is an important flagship program of the Election Commission of India.
This tournament was jointly organised in partnership with Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Lunglei and Lunglei District Football Association (LDFA) and teams from Lunglei North, Lunglei East, Lunglei West leh Lunglei South Assembly Constituency participated in this tournament.
‘SVEEP One Day Futsal Tournament’ was kicked off by Lunglei District Election Officer & DC Shri Kulothungan A. The Deputy Commissioner stated that for a truly participative democracy we should encourage all eligible citizens to register themselves in the electoral roll and to cast their votes in the elections.
Pu K.Lalrohlua Additional DC delivered a short speech and the urged audience to cast their valuable votes in the upcoming elections of Lunglei LMC MLA, and MP. He stated that any problems with regard to their Voter ID card, can be addressed by the Lunglei DC Office anytime, and that anyone who has reached the age of 18 on 1/1/2022 can register in the electoral roll.
The aims of Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) are to promote voter awareness , to inspire participation of qualified voters in elections and to educate people about the value of their votes. Awareness campaign initiatives taken by Lunglei District SVEEP are – video clip, rally, students awareness and social media campaign.
