South Bengal Frontier organizing a two days workshop against human trafficking on 30th and 31st March under the chairmanship of Dr. Atul Phuljhele, IPS, Inspector General, South Bengal Frontier at 118 Battalion Headquarters Tagore Villa Campus with a view to make its troops more professional. In today workshop, Shri Naresh Chaturvedi, DIG, Shri Surjeet Singh Guleria, DIG, Shri Kunal Mazumdar, DIG, Shri Mukesh Tyagi, DIG, Shri Tarni Kumar Tiu, Commanding Officer, 179 Battalion, Shri Narayan Chand, Commandant, 112 Battalion, Shri Rajesh Kumar Tripathi, Commandant, 118 Battalion joined the program. Pyali Mandal and Subir Biswas from NGO Plan India and Shri Ravikant and Shri Shashikant from NGO Shakti Vahini participated in the workshop. Apart from this, a total of 23 BSF troops participated in this workshop.
Dr. Atul Fulzele, Inspector General, BSF addressed the officers & men about human trafficking in which he stated the reasons behind the illegal trade of human trafficking and also informed the troops to stop it and take preventive action.

In the workshop, Inspector General BSF stated that after the deployment of Anti Human Trafficking Unit in the sensitive area on the border, special attention is being paid to the cases of human trafficking. To root out the cases of human trafficking, as much as it is necessary to put the touts (buyers) behind the bars, it is equally important to make the poor and innocent girls aware about the heinous act of human trafficking (swamp). So that no girl can fall prey to these human traffickers.
What is Anti Human Trafficking Unit?
The Anti Human Trafficking Unit, an important part of the BSF South Bengal Frontier, is trying to stop human trafficking by staying on the International Border, the statement said. It was deployed by the South Bengal Frontier on January 15, 2021 in view of the heinous crimes of human trafficking in the border areas. During its tenure, the Anti Human Trafficking Unit has so far rescued 42 victims (36 women and 06 minor girls) from being involved in illegal human trafficking in 34 cases and arrested 33 touts.
Strict action against human traffickers.
Surjeet Singh Guleria,PRO and DIG of South Bengal Frontier stated that it is often seen that brokers involved in human trafficking bring poor and gullible girls of Bangladesh across the border with the lure of good jobs and money and push them into abominable work like prostitution. These days BSF is taking very strict steps to stop human trafficking on the border. All the Anti Human trafficking Units under the leadership of Inspector General of South Bengal Frontier have been deployed on the border. The main objective of the Anti Human Trafficking Unit is to nab all the syndicates involved in human trafficking and hand them over to the law and put them behind bars.
