On April 06, 2022, on specific information, the troops of Border Out Post Jhaudanga,158 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier, layed a special ambush near Jhaudanga High School, adjacent to Jhaudanga market area, on the early morning at around 0400 hrs and apprehended a Bangladeshi smuggler with a bag (potla). On search of the apprehended smuggler by BSF personnel, 50 bottles of phensedyl were recovered from inside his bag, whose estimated value was found to be Rs.9,832/-.
The identity of the apprehended smuggler Md. Zone Haider , age 28 years , Village – Agrabulet , PS – Sarsa , District – Jessore (Bangladesh) . During questioning, apprehended Bangladeshi smuggler revealed that he was involved in smuggling activities for the last 5 years and for the last few months he was working as a carrier for a Bangladeshi smuggler namely Md Monir hossain who gives him 4000 BD Taka per 100 bottles of Phensedyl. He further revealed that last night (April 05) he illegally crossed the International Border and came to Jhaudanga (India). He had taken all these Phensedyl bottles from Indian smuggler Arup Mandal (Village- Kahankia, Gaighata) and was on his way to Ichmati River (International Boundary) to go back to Bangladesh. As soon as he reached near the BSF duty line, the BSF apprehended him with a Phensedyl bag.
The apprehended Bangladeshi smuggler and the seized phensedyl have been handed over to the Gaighata Police Station for further legal action.
Shri Harendra Singh Tomar, Commanding Officer, 158 Battalions expressed happiness over the achievements of the troops, in which the troops apprehended 01 Bangladeshi smuggler with 50 bottles of Phensedyl. The official added that they will not allow any kind of smuggling in their area.
