The main server related to the Information Technology (IT)-Systems of Oil India Limited (OIL) was reportedly hacked yesterday. This is seen as an unfortunate incident, concerning cyber security at large.
In Assam’s Duliajan, the main headquarters reported of their computer system getting hijacked by the said International Hacker. It is being speculated that a major cyber security breach has happened yesterday.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) or otherwise spokesperson of OIL, Tridib Hazarika told media that the servers were impacted by malware viruses, and was detected immediately. He added that all the “affected” computers, online systems, were removed; and IT department took immediate steps for the same.
It may be mentioned that, Oil India Limited (OIL) is a premier Indian National Oil Company engaged in the business of exploration, development and production of crude oil and natural gas. OIL has been a major resource and establishment to the nation at large, over the years now.
