On 12 April, 2022, acting on specific informationthe, at around 2130 hrs, the troops of Border Out Post Dobarpara,158 Battalion’s under South Bengal Frontier, apprehended a Bangladeshi smuggler by putting a special ambush near the International Boundary. On search of the apprehended smuggler, 49 bottles of Phensedyl were recovered from inside his bag.
The apprehended smuggler has been identified as Mohd Russell, age 19 years, Village – Panchbullet, PS- Sarsa, District – Jessore (Bangladesh). During interrogation smuggler revealed that he is involved in smuggling activities for the last 3 years and for the last few days he regularly works as a carrier for Indian smuggler Sukesh Dhalai. He further revealed that last night (April 12) he had illegally crossed the International Boundary to Dobarpara (India) and took all these Phensedyl from Indian smuggler Sukesh Dhalai towards Ichmati River (International Boundary) to give it to Bangladeshi smuggler Jahagir. But as soon as he reached the BSF duty line, the BSF apprehended him with a Phensedyl bag.
Bangladeshi smugglers and seized Phensedyl have been handed over to Gaighata Police Station for further legal action.
Harendra Singh Tomar, Commanding Officer, 158 Battalion expressed happiness over the achievements of the jawans, in which the jawans apprehended 01 Bangladeshi smuggler with 49 bottles of Phensedyl. The official stated that they will not allow any kind of smuggling in their area.
