It has been observed that the rise in prices of essential commodities across Assam has hit the common man over the weeks and months now. This remains an issue of serious concern.
With petrol and diesel costing over ₹ 100/litre, travel has turned expensive. This has also been an otherwise pressure on the pockets of the lower and middle class section of the society.
At a time when the Northeastern state celebrates the auspicious occasion of Rongali Bihu, this dampens the spirit of the same. The government is seemingly silent on the above mentioned issue however.
“Petrol price in few Assam district have crossed 102 and over all its 100+ per litre.
The BJP govt is literally squeezing out our public’s hard earned money.”, reads a tweet by Assam Pradesh Youth Congress (APYC) on 1st April this year.
It adds, “One side there is no Job for youth and other side so much Price rise on daily basis.” The tweet has also garnered social reactions over the weeks now.
Despite price rise, the Assamese people across the districts seem to be immersed in the celebration of traditional Bihu with festive fervour. Team “NE India Broadcast” wishes its readers and viewers a very Happy Rongali Bihu.
