On 19 April, 2022, vigilant jawans of Border Out Post Jeetpur, 68 Battalion apprehended five women and a child while crossing the International Boundary illegally. The apprehended women were identified as i) Fardusi Khatoon (30) District- Chuvadanga, ii) Halima Akhtar (25) District – Khulna, iii) Anita (25), District – Patuakhali, iv) Sapna Arora (32) District – Satkhira, v) Ratna Mohitosh Biswas (27) and his 4-year-old daughter, district- Satkhira.
During interrogation, Fardusi Khatoon and Halima Akhtar revealed that they were coming to India in search of work while all others revealed that they came to India at different times and all have married Indian persons. Today everyone was going to Bangladesh to meet her family. All the apprehended women have given Rs 13000/ to 20,000/ to the touts to cross the border.
The three apprehended women were handed over to the Border Guard Bangladesh due to humanity and goodwill. While the other two women and a child were handed over to the Police Station Bagdaha for further legal proceding.
Yoginder Agrawal, Commanding Officer of 68 Battalion stated that the Border Security Force is taking strict steps to prevent infiltration along the Indo-Bangladesh border, due to which some people are being caught. Considering the seriousness of the crime of the apprehended people and due to the mutual cooperation and goodwill of the Border Guarding Forces of both the countries, some of them are being handed over to the BGB.
