On the night of 22/23 April, 2022, vigilant troops of Border Out Posts Jeetpur and Ranghat of 68 Battalion detained a total of four people while crossing the International boundary illegally. Those identified as Naimur Rahman Suzzan (20), Distt.-Narail, Bangladesh, ii) Poppy Mandal (19), and his son Pritam Roy (1.5), Distt.- Madaripur, iv) Ishita Khatoon, 22 years, (fictitious name), Distt. Munshiganj, Bangladesh.
During interrogation, Ishita Khatoon (fictitious name) revealed that due to financial condition of her family, she came to India in January 2021 and used to do prostitution work in Baguihati, Kolkata and was going back to Bangladesh today. During further interrogation, Ishita Khatoon did not give any information about any other Bangladeshi woman. The rest were coming to India from Bangladesh in search of other work.
All those apprehended were handed over to the Border Guard Bangladesh as a gesture of humanity and goodwill.
Yoginder Agrawal, Commanding Officer of 68 Battalion stated that the Border Security Force is taking strict steps to prevent infiltration along the Indo-Bangladesh border, due to which some people are being apprehended. Considering the seriousness of the crime of the apprehended people and due to the mutual cooperation and goodwill of the Border Guarding Forces of both the countries, some of them are being handed over to the Border Guard Bangladesh.
