National Deworming Day 2022 was observed today in Lunglei District at Electric Veng Primary School-II Lunglei with Deputy Commissioner Pu Kulothungan A as the Chief Guest.
Delivering an inaugural speech, Pu Kulothungan A stressed on the importance of personal hygiene and cultivating healthy habitS to have a healthy life. The Deputy Commissioner praised and thanked healthcare workers in Lunglei District for their efficient handling of all state and national health related programmes even in the face of the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Pu H.Sangthanga Add.DPC,Samagra Shiksha chaired the function.
A hand washing demonstration was done, followed by administration of Tablet Albendazole to students by the Chief Guest and other officials.
NDD is observed twice every year in which a deworming tablet, Albendazole is administered to children between 1 to 19 years old. In this first round of NDD 2022, the tablet will be administered at every school, colleges and anganwadi centres. Mopping up of those left out today will be done on 27th April, 2022.
