Troops of 117 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier BSF apprehended two Indian smugglers with 188 Phensedyl bottles. Smugglers were trying to take all these Phensedyl bottles from India to Bangladesh.
On 25th April, 2022 at about 0930 am, Border Outpost Bamnabad, 117 Battalion troops, acting on solid and accurate information, succeeded in apprehending two Indian smugglers. On search, 188 bottles of Phensedyl and two mobile phones were recovered from them.
The estimated value of the confiscated goods in the Indian market is Rs.51590/-.Both the arrested smugglers were identified as Lalan Sarkar (age 29 years), son Mumtaz Sarkar village – Lalkup, police station – Sagarpara district Murshidabad and Tariq Aziz son Ashan Mandal village Lalkup post Shivnagar police station Sagarpara district – Murshidabad.
The apprehended smuggler told that he had taken these Phensedyl bottles from Mustafa Shaikh son Bahadur Shaikh village Lalkup post Shibnagar police station Sagarpara. Mamood Shaikh was about to hand over these Phensedyl bottles to village Yusufpur Post Charghat District Rajshahi (Bangladesh) after crossing the duty line of BSF.
Apprehended smugglers and seized goods have been handed over to police station Raninagar for further action.
Shri K S Mehta, Commanding Officer, 117 Battalion, BSF expressed happiness over the alertness of its troops and said that their troops are fully determined and committed to prevent cross border crimes and smuggling.
