An Indian smuggler was apprehended by the BSF Troops of 141 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier BSF along with silver worth Rs 7 lakh. The smuggler was trying to smuggle the silver from India to Bangladesh.
On 26th April, 2022 at about 0730 am, in 141 Battalion, Border Outpost, Farzipara, a villager came to the entry point of check post by placing a spray machine on the bicycle. Jawans in duty had some suspicion from his body language. Consequently, the jawan took his bicycle and started searching it. On search, silver pellets were recovered from both the tubes of the cycle. The smuggler was nabbed on the spot. Quantity of seized silver is 11.95 kg and its estimated price in Indian market is Rs. 7,88,102/-.
The apprehended smuggler has been identified as Abdul Baki Malitha (age 40 years), son Siraj Malitha village – Ghospara, police station – Jalangi district – Murshidabad.
The arrested smuggler told that he had taken this silver from Mahibul Mandal son Nazrul Mandal and Rabkul Mandal son Mukul Mandal village Kailashganj post Shabrampur police station Jalangi. Apprehended smuggler and seized items have been handed over to Custom Office Jalangi for further action.
Shri Nagendra Singh Rautela, Commanding Officer, 141 Battalion, BSF expressed happiness over the alertness of his jawans and stated that their jawans are fully determined and committed to prevent cross border crimes and smuggling.
