Assam: Frequent change in weather underlines the factor of climate change!

It has been observed over the last couple of weeks or months that the sudden change in weather is habitual. The change in weather also brings in certain factors, and concerning to all of us at large.

The rainfall structure in Assam has seen changes in the recent times. There are hours of unprecedented rainfall, and on the other hand, there are days with none at all.

“Thunderstorm/lightning & squall (speed reaching 50-60 kmph) very likely over Assam-Meghalaya and Nagaland-Manipur-Mizoram-Tripura on 29th April, 2022.”, reads a tweet by India Meteorological Department (IMD) yesterday afternoon.

It adds, “Isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Arunachal Pradesh on 30th; over Assam-Meghalaya during 30th April-03rd May and over Nagaland-Manipur-Mizoram-Tripura on 03rd May.”

According to the official website of IMD, it has continuously ventured into new areas of application and service, and steadily built upon its infra-structure in its history of 140 years. Meanwhile, it has simultaneously nurtured the growth of meteorology, atmospheric science in India.
